Ms. Adele C. Johnson, of Richmond, was the community relations initiatives for Capital One Financial Corporation where she was responsible for integrating components of their philanthropic activities in the Richmond market. For 13 years previously, she was president of the Virginia Minority Supplier Development Council until she joined Capital One in 2004. Prior to assuming her nonprofit post, she was the manager of marketing and public relations for the Virginia Department of Minority Business Enterprise. She also has worked for the State Department of Consumer Affairs.
In 1995, Ms. Johnson served as a member of the Joint Commonwealth Competition Subcommittee, which was organized to study the privatization of certain government functions. She is also a former member of the Board of Visitors of Virginia State University.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in urban studies and planning in 1975 from Virginia Commonwealth University and has earned certificates from executive education programs at Dartmouth College and Wisconsin University.
She serves as a State Board liaison with J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College.
