Chris Lumsden was appointed to the State Board for Community Colleges by Governor Mark Warner in July 2002, and was reappointed by Governor Tim Kaine for a second four-year term in July 2006. He served as State Board Chair during 2005-06. Mr. Lumsden has been chief executive officer of the Halifax Regional Health System in South Boston since June 1985. Previously, he served as assistant administrator for the Danville Regional Medical Center from 1983 to 1985. He holds a master’s degree in health services administration from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration and economics from Bridgewater College.
He is a past chair of the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association, a past chair of the Halifax County Economic Development Council and a past chair of the Halifax Educational Foundation Inc. He also is past president of the Halifax County Chamber of Commerce. He lives in South Boston with his wife, Linda, and two children, Jessica and Nicholas.
He serves as liaison to Southside Virginia Community College.
