VCCS New Horizons 2010: Discover What’s Next—
the Excellence in Education (EIE) Awards

What’s next with the New Horizons awards program is a whole new focus centered on teaching and learning. We have renamed the Technology in Education awards to the more inclusive Excellence in Education awards. Of course those looking to share their latest technological advancements are encouraged to participate, but we also want to hear from the rest of you—those with ideas to share that may be low tech but highly effective, and those who contribute mightily to student success from outside the classroom.

AWARDS PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
		Who Should Apply	Award	Application Process	Attendance at New Horizons 2010	On-site Involvement
	Early Implementer Award	Indiviudals or teams (full or part-time VCCS employees of all personnel categories) implementing an idea learned at New Horizons 2008 or 2009.	Awards to the top two winners. Certificates for all.	Individuals or teams complete the online submission by January 15, 2010, 1 pm. Winners will be notified by February 1, 2010 RSVPs due 7 days later.	Required	Recognition at the awards luncheon.
	Recognition of Excellence	Individuals with accomplishments in the categories described within the last 3 years (2008 - 2010).	Certificates for all.	Nominate self or others through the online submission process by January 30, 2010	Desired	Recognition at the awards luncheon.
Excellence in Education	Innovative Use of Technology - Face-to-Face and Online Classroom	Individuals or teams (full or part-time VCCS employees of all personnel categories).	$300 to the winning college, $200 to the runner-up college. Certificates for all.	Individuals or teams complete the online submission by January 15, 2010, 1 pm. Winners will be notified by February 1, 2010 RSVPs due 7 days later.	Required of all finalists	Presentation at the Excellence in Education reception and concurrent session. Recognition at the awards luncheon.
Excellence in Education	Improving Student Success - Institutional	Individuals or teams (full or part-time VCCS employees of all personnel categories).	$300 to the winning college, $200 to the runner-up college. Certificates for all.	Individuals or teams complete the online submission by January 15, 2010, 1 pm. Winners will be notified by February 1, 2010 RSVPs due 7 days later.
