First Lady Anne Holton was honored with a surprise scholarship fund when she hosted the first Governor's Conference on Children's Services Transformation in December. The conference brought together 600 stakeholders and advocates to celebrate successes in helping at-risk children and their families throughout the commonwealth, including foster children.
The Virginia Foundation for Community College Education (VFCCE) will manage the Anne Holton Legacy Fund, which provides emergency funding for foster youth in crisis. Help honor the First Lady's legacy by donating at greatexpectations.vccs.edu, and choosing the "Anne Holton Legacy Fund."
Among the youth present were foster youth in the Great Expectations program at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College (shown left to right, Chancellor Glenn DuBois; Antoine Peyton, Joseph Peyton, their foster mother Ollie Sharper; First Lady Anne Holton; Governor Tim Kaine).
