Virginia Foundation for Community College Education

VCCF_v_color-250pixelswide.jpg

Working hand in hand with Virginia’s 23 Community Colleges, the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education seeks to guarantee financial assistance to all students who dream of attending college.

The foundation is building an endowment that is already generating interest to provide full scholarships to selected community college students.

Donors are invited to endow a single scholarship in their name and designate it to any of Virginia’s Community Colleges or regions. Or, contribute to one of the existing scholarship funds, or to Great Expectations, the initiative to help foster youth obtain a postsecondary education.

First Lady Anne Holton honored for work with foster children

Governor Tim Kaine, First Lady Anne Holton and Chancellor Glenn DuBoisFirst Lady Anne Holton was honored with a surprise scholarship fund when she hosted the first Governor's Conference on Children's Services Transformation in December. The conference brought together 600 stakeholders and advocates to celebrate successes in helping at-risk children and their families throughout the commonwealth, including foster children.Anne Holton and friends

The Virginia Foundation for Community College Education (VFCCE) will manage the Anne Holton Legacy Fund, which provides emergency funding for foster youth in crisis. Help honor the First Lady's legacy by donating at greatexpectations.vccs.edu, and choosing the "Anne Holton Legacy Fund."

Among the youth present were foster youth in the Great Expectations program at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College (shown left to right, Chancellor Glenn DuBois; Antoine Peyton, Joseph Peyton, their foster mother Ollie Sharper; First Lady Anne Holton; Governor Tim Kaine).
