Emory & Henry College signs guaranteed admission agreement with Virginia's community colleges
Emory & Henry is 21st systemwide agreement for Virginia's community colleges

Emory & Henry College has signed a statewide guaranteed admission agreement with Virginia’s Community Colleges (VCCS) that will promote transfer and streamline the process for Virginia community college graduates.

The guaranteed admission agreement allows graduates of a Virginia community college who complete an associate’s degree in Arts and Science with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher to transfer to Emory & Henry College with junior standing.

Emory & Henry offers a unique educational environment that has long appealed to students from throughout the state,” said E&H President Rosalind Reichard. “This articulation agreement reinforces the E&H tradition of reaching out to a broad spectrum of Virginia students and increasing their excellence.

This partnership benefits students across Virginia by giving them yet another option in their pursuit of the higher education they need to be successful in the 21st century,” said Glenn DuBois, chancellor of Virginia’s community colleges. “This agreement is another step in our continued effort to establish Virginia’s Community Colleges as an on-ramp to a four-year college degree and a high-quality, affordable option for families seeking access to higher education.”

To be eligible for guaranteed admission, students must complete a transfer-oriented associate’s degree, and must have declared intent to transfer to Emory & Henry College.

Students who transfer under the new agreement are allowed to waive the E&H application fee. They will be automatically considered for certain scholarships offered at Emory & Henry College, and will otherwise enjoy the same rights and responsibilities as native Emory & Henry students.

The agreement was formally signed by VCCS Chancellor Glenn DuBois and E&H President Rosalind Reichard in a ceremony at the Kelly Library on the Emory & Henry College campus.

The guaranteed admission agreement is the latest of a total of 21 statewide agreements adopted over the past two years between the VCCS and public and private four-year institutions. Additional comprehensive agreements are pending.

Statewide agreements are detailed on the web at myfuture.vccs.edu/transfer.
