Virginia’s Community Colleges will host public hearings on the governor’s proposed budget
  • Four out of 6 public hearings on the proposed Virginia budget will be held at a Virginia Community College.
  • Hearings are Jan. 8 at NVCC, PVCC and at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center located on the VHCC campus, as well as Jan. 9 at CVCC.


  • Four out of the six scheduled annual public hearings on the proposed 2008-10 budget will occur at Virginia’s Community Colleges.

    The budget hearings are conducted jointly by the House Appropriations Committee and the Senate Finance Committee.  The schedule is as follows:

    Additional public hearings are being held at noon on Thursday, Jan. 8 at Christopher Newport University, and on Monday, Jan. 19, at 1 p.m. in House Room D in the General Assembly Building in Richmond.

    The purpose of the hearings is for the House and Senate committees to receive comments on the Governor’s proposed 2008-2010 State Budget. Persons wishing to speak may register at each hearing site no earlier than one hour prior to the start of the hearing and are asked to limit comments to three minutes or less.
