President Selected for Eastern Shore Community College
  • Kentucky provost to become fifth president at Eastern Shore Community College
  • Dr. Linda K. Thomas-Glover begins at ESCC June 1.


  • Dr. Linda Thomas-GloverRICHMOND – Dr. Linda K. Thomas-Glover, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky will become the next president of Eastern Shore Community College, Glenn DuBois, chancellor of Virginia’s Community Colleges, announced today.

    Currently provost and chief academic officer at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, she will move to her new post in Melfa, Virginia, effective June 1, 2009.

    “We had more than 100 candidates for this position, and brought to campus three outstanding community college leaders,” said Lloyd Kellam, chair of the College Board at Eastern Shore Community College. “All three candidates that came to campus were very capable of being our president.  We were able to choose ‘the best from the best.’ We are extremely confident Dr. Thomas-Glover is going to do a terrific job at Eastern Shore – and we look forward to welcoming her.”

    Dr. Thomas-Glover “brings to us experience in multiple state community college systems. She is a highly regarded professional and I’m delighted she is going to be the next president of Eastern Shore Community College,” said DuBois.

    Before serving as provost and chief academic officer in Kentucky, Dr. Thomas-Glover was vice president of instruction at Guilford Technical Community College in Jamestown, North Carolina, from 2002-2004. She was division chair for science and mathematics at Guilford from 1998-2002 and chaired the physical sciences department from 1990-1998.

    She holds a doctorate in chemistry from Temple University in Philadelphia, a master’s degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a bachelor’s degree from South Carolina State College.

    “I am honored to have been selected as the next president of Eastern Shore Community College and am very excited about the opportunity to become a part of the college family – and a part of the community,” said Dr. Thomas-Glover. “My family received such a warm welcome here.  I look forward to calling the Eastern Shore home and continuing to advance the mission of the institution.”

    Dr. Thomas-Glover will become the fifth president at Eastern Shore Community College, replacing Dr. Cheryl Thompson-Stacy, who left in January to become president at Lord Fairfax Community College. Dr. Monty Sullivan is currently serving as interim president at Eastern Shore.
