Application Process

Submit your application packet including:

  • Completed application form (see link at right)
    You must mail the application to the address on the application form with an original signature. Keep the application to one page, please include your signature.
  • Copies of your Official Virginia Communication and Literacy Assessment (VCLA) and Praxis II score reports
  • Official transcripts
    Contact the registrar’s office of all the colleges/universities where you have earned degrees and taken applicable course work. Request official student transcripts to be sent to you to be enclosed with your application. (Official trancripts will bear the registrar's signature and have an embossed seal.) Photocopies of transcripts will not be accepted as part of your final application packet.
  • Documentation of work experience
    Employers may either sign the application or you can attach a written recommendation from the employer and submit that with your official college transcript(s)

Your application packet will be reviewed to:

  • verify your Bachelor’s degree and GPA
  • verify your work experience
  • check to make sure your VCLA and Praxis II scores meet the Virginia Department of Education's qualifying scores for your endorsement area.
  • check for coursework that may qualify you for additional endorsement(s).
  • You may not be accepted if you currently have a Provisional License or expired Provisional License from the VDOE or if you have held a teaching license in any other state.
