Mike Mohler, of Springfield, was appointed to the State Board by Governor Warner to succeed former member Mary Louise Jackson.

Mr. Mohler is currently president of the Virginia Professional Fire Fighters, a position he has held since 1994, and the Fairfax County Professional Fire Fighters and Paramedics union, a post he has held since 1991.

He is an executive board member of the Virginia State AFL-CIO and a member of the Northern Virginia Labor Council, and lobbies the Virginia General Assembly on public safety and other issues. He is a veteran of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department with the rank of Captain.

Mr. Mohler received the Valor Award from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department in 1987 and the Les Dorson Public Service Award for service to the citizens of Fairfax County in 1992.

He attended Northern Virginia Community College and James Madison University in Harrisonburg.

He serves as liaison to Northern Virginia Community College.
